INTRODUCTION AREA OF OPERATION
AHSAS DISABLED PEOPLE ORGANIZATION is working in an under developed rural area of Kheber PKPakistan. Here the main problems are poverty and lack of education. Most of the people are related to profession of cultivation.
The ratio of disabled people is approximately 7 %.
The disabled people have not a least say in social life. Disabled people are confined in their homes from many years. There is no proper arrangement for their education. Parents having disabled children also show negligence on their past. The reason behind their attitude is that, they think disabled children being unable to do anything. Therefore, they
Should be given food and cloths and that’s enough. That’s all about their life.
The disabled people who are comes out of their homes are made a source of amusement by the society. It is their favorite engagement pastime to irritate and make fun of the disabled people. The root cause of all these evils is lack of awareness.
This area needs a brimful waking enterprise. Such enterprise must be started which gives perception to the parents that their disabled children also posses some wishes and dreams. It should give such feelings to the rest of society the PWD’s are same human beings like others and they should be gain equal status in society. This enterprise should create awareness in disabled people about their rights.
The first and foremost step of Ahsas disabled people Organization is the awareness campaign.
The 2nd major problem of this area for disabled people is lack of educational facilities, As it is a hilly area that is why the access of disabled people to schools is impossible. Therefore 95% disabled people are deprived of education. Ahsas Disabled People Organization tried to resolve this problem by ensuring the admission of disabled people in local schools, providing tutors for them and giving examination at the end of educational session. But there is a problem the schools do not accept such type of admissions unless the disabled child comes to school.
Ahsas Disabled People Organization has solved this problem by obtaining two separate No Objection Certificates from EDO (Executive Director Education) schools and literacy Mansehra and District Government Mansehra for all district Mansehra. These NOC’s are also useful for lectures & functions during our awareness campaign in schools and colleges. Ahsas Disabled People Organization got three children (Ahsin Ali, Faiz Muhammad and Dil Nawaz) admitted in Government Primary School Ichhrian. I think it’s a big achievement for us because Ahsas Disabled People Organization is at start point and still having no funding source.
